Madhuri Dixit (born 15 May 1967)[1] is an Indian film actress who has appeared in Hindi films. Often cited as one of the best actresses in Bollywood,[2][3] Dixit made her film debut in Abodh (1984) and received wider public recognition with Tezaab (1988). She went on to establish herself as one of Hindi cinema's leading actresses,[4] acknowledged for several of her performances, her beauty, and her accomplished dancing.[5]
Some of her proceeding films include such box-office hits as Dil (1990), Saajan (1991), Beta (1992), Khalnayak (1993), Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994) and Raja (1995). After a relatively low phase, she reinvented herself with the romance Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) and subsequently received critical acclaim for her work in films like Mrityudand (1997), Pukar (2000), Lajja (2001) and Devdas (2002). In 2002, she took a sabbatical from films in order to raise her children and made a comeback with the musical Aaja Nachle in 2007. Dixit also judged two seasons of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa '.[6]
Dixit has won six Filmfare Awards, four for Best Actress, one for Best Supporting Actress and one special Filmfare award for completing 25 years in Bollywood. She holds the record for the highest number of Best Actress nominations (13) at Filmfare. In 2008, she was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award by the Government of India.[7] She is married to Dr Shriram Chandra Nene, with whom she has two children. The couple resided in the United States before moving to India in 2011.
Mahashweta Ray (Oriya- Belongs to Puri, Orissa. She has been a leading actress in Oriya as well as in Bengali film industry for a long time. Ray has often been critically acclaimed as one of the best Oriya actresses so far. She has won many awards for her performances in many movies and "Sesa Shrabana" was her first ever movie with legendary actors Prashanta Nanda and Hemanta Dash. Now she is still actively associated with the Oriya film industry and also doing some character roles and some tele serials.
Lekha Washington (born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India) is an Indian film actress and model, who has appeared in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu films and Kannada language films. After appearing as a video jockey with SS Music, Lekha's breakthrough film role was as an independent estranged sister in Jayamkondaan (2008), whilst she has gone on to portray roles in the multi-starrer Vedam and the comedy Va.
Lakshmi Rai was born on 5 May 1989[citation needed] in Bangalore and was brought up at Belgaum. She initially worked as a model before entering the film industry. She appeared in several television ads such as Sylcon Footwears, Josco Jewellers and Emmanuel Silks.
She made her acting debut in 2005 in the Tamil film Karka Kasadara. Subsequently she appeared in a number of Tamil films, including the comedy film Kundakka Mandakka (2005) opposite R. Parthiban, Perarasu's action-masala flick Dharmapuri (2006), and the romance film Nenjai Thodu (2007). In 2008, she began working in more serious films such as the drama film Velli Thirai, in which she played herself, and the action thriller Dhaam Dhoom directed by Jeeva. She received positive feedbacks forher portrayal of a lawyer in the latter. A review from Behindwoods wrote: "The latter (Lakshmi Rai) sizzles even as she is supposed to play the curt professional who is caught in the web of smuggling drugs".[2] She won her first Filmfare Award nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category.
She made her debut in Malayalam in 2007, starring in Rock & Roll opposite Mohanlal. She was noticed by the film field although film was a commercial failure. She followed it up with several successful films such as Annan Thambi, 2 Harihar Nagar (2009),[3] Evidam Swargamanu (2009) opposite Mohanlal, and Chattambinadu (2009) opposite Mammootty. She appeared in three Tamil films in 2009, Muthirai, Vaamanan and Naan Avanillai 2. In Vaamanan, she played a glamourous supermodel.[4] In 2010, she was seen in three films. She made special appearances during song sequences in two of them, In Ghost House Inn and Pen Singam and portrayed a cowgirl in the Tamil western adventure film Irumbukkottai Murattu Singam..
