After winning the Miss Teen Liverpool and Miss Teen Great Britain pageants, she won the Miss Teen World in 2009.[6] Jackson won 18 prizes, which included a modelling contract in the US on a $20,000 scholarship.[citation needed] She won Miss Liverpool in 2009. She participated in the Miss England competition in 2010 but lost out to Jessica Linley in the final.[7] Jackson signed a second modelling contract with Boss Model Management[8][9] and modelled all over Europe.
In 2009, at the age of 17, Indian film producers spotted her on a model agency website and invited her to audition, which led to her casting as the female lead in the Tamil film Madrasapattinam. It is a period-drama film where she plays the role of a British Governor’s daughter in 1947 India.[10] After the film was eventually released on 9 July 2010, it was a critical and commercial success, with Jackson gaining praise for her performance. Sify wrote "It is an out and out Amy Jackson show. She is simply amazing to deliver lines in Tamil, and is one good reason to see the film".[11] Behindwoods wrote "The one who walks away with the top honors is Amy Jackson for a beautiful portrayal of a lady torn between her love and the mighty empire. She looks absolutely beautiful, emotes well through her expressive eyes and is able to earn the sympathy of the audiences during tough times".[12] Rediff wrote "Amy Jackson is almost perfect as the wide-eyed young girl who is seeing India for the first time, fascinated by its culture".[13]
According to the Daily Mail, Jackson "learnt about Bollywood by watching Shilpa Shetty in the reality show Big Brother".[14] Later, she was signed by Gautham Menon to play a Malayali Nasrani Christian in Ek Deewana Tha, her Bollywood debut and a Hindi remake of another 2010 Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa.[15][16] She has been signed to do Yevadu[17] and the film I ,
While studying in Sophia College, Amrita auditioned for an advertisement for Fairever Face Cream. She filmed many commercials and did numerous photo shoots. Her appearance in Cadbury’s Perk Karwa Chaut ad and the Bru Coffee advertisement helped her receive offers from film directors in Bollywood. She also appeared in numerous music videos by artists such as Alisha Chinoy.
Even after becoming a well-known actress in Bollywood, she continues do model and wal ramps for designers, as a celebrity guest.

2002–2006
Amrita made her acting debut in Ab Ke Baras (2002) alongside Arya Babbar. She went on to star with Shahid Kapoor in his debut film, Ishq Vishk (2003) and became an overnight star after the success that film for her portrayal of Payal. She followed this up in 2004 with Masti, Main Hoon Na with Shahrukh Khan and Zayed Khan, and Deewaar. The year 2005 saw her performing as Priya in Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi! and Madhvi in Shikhar. In 2006, she starred in Pyare Mohan alongside Vivek Oberoi, and Sooraj R. Barjatya's blockbuster Vivah opposite Shahid Kapoor.[4]
2007– Present
Her first part in 2007 was a special appearance for the song "Heyy Babyy" in the eponymous film, Heyy Babyy. She then made her debut in the Telugu film industry with Athidhi opposite Mahesh Babu.[5] Amrita's movies in 2008 include My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves with Nikhil Dwivedi and Welcome to Sajjanpur with Shreyas Talpade. The following year, she portrayed Nandini in Victory and Mansi in Shortkut opposite Arshad Warsi.
Amrita was signed for ABCL Corp's The Legend Of Kunal and for a Tip's Film with Neil Nitin Mukesh to be directed by Ken Ghosh , but both the movies did not take-off and her only release in 2011 was Rajshree Production's Love U...Mr. Kalakaar!, produced by Sooraj Barjatia in which she played Ritu, the main role, alongside Tusshar Kapoor.[6] She acted in Hook Yaa Crook, which is awaiting release. Kick starting 2013 with Fox Star's Hit Film Jolly LLB [7][8] starring Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani, Amrita Rao is currently working on two major big-budget films Singh Saab - The Great opposite Sunny Deol and director Anil Sharma of Gaddar fame, and Prakash Jha's Satyagrah both movies scheduled to be released in 2013.
